Notes

James Sutherland Thomson presided as the University of Saskatchewan’s second President from 1937-1949. In this memoir, Thomson recollects the challenges of overseeing the University at the end of the Great Depression, during World War II, and in the aftermath of veterans returning home. Rather than affecting a tone of administrative history, Thomson embraces his personal vantage point: humorous asides and intimate reflections permeate the slim volume’s account of Thomson’s twelve years as President.
