Notes

Regina Public Library’s “Living History Project” (led in part by John H. Archer, a librarian, archivist, and historian who served as the University of Regina’s first President) encouraged senior citizens to share their life stories with others. This volume contains family histories recalled by five Living History Project participants: Ardath Bitney, Glenndoris Haggman, George Hamilton, Grace Motion, and Smelia Joorisity. The authors' stories reveal a spectrum of challenges and joys experienced by Saskatchewan families in the early 1900s. Unique recollections of immigrating to Canada, establishing a homestead, attending school, coping with farming’s challenges, meeting spouses, pursuing leisure activities, and navigating city life characterize the volume.
