Notes

From 1874 to 1918, Wood Mountain served as a North-West Mounted Police outpost and a point of contact between traders, settlers, and First Nations groups. In this slim booklet, Morley Harrison draws on sources from the Saskatchewan Archives to describe life in the fort and the role of its inhabitants in the North-West’s history. Much of the booklet discusses the Sioux presence under Sitting Bull at Wood Mountain 1876-1881. No publication date indicated, but Wood Mountain Historic Park’s opening in 1965 makes a publication date of 1965 or later likely.
