Notes

An investigative family history by the grandson of a Mennonite emigrant from Oklahoma who settled in Saskatchewan. The work centres on the 1917 murder of the author’s great-uncle, Jacob Krause. After arriving in Canada in 1913 and briefly surveying conditions, Jacob returned to the United States, where he established a store in Hydro, Montana. Drawing on research conducted over sixteen years, the author reconstructs the circumstances of the crime and assembles documentary and family evidence relating to the case.
