Notes

Walter P. Thompson joined the University of Saskatchewan as a biology professor in 1913 and eventually became the University’s fourth President 1949-1959. Published the year that he passed away, this volume chronicles the University’s history from its founding in 1907 through both World Wars into Thompson’s term as President 1949-1959. Throughout, he discusses the development of programs, faculties, and administration as well as the University’s response to major events in Canada and around the world. While styled a “personal” history, Thompson carefully balances factual description against personal analysis, preferring the presentation of facts and statistics to over-speculation in matters where he had little influence or role.
