Notes

D. Michael Jackson began his 25-year tenure as Saskatchewan’s Chief of Protocol in 1980, after helping arrange and coordinate the Saskatchewan leg of Queen Elizabeth’s 1978 train voyage across Canada. In this booklet, Jackson explains the British Crown’s presence and representatives in Canada's federal and provincial politics. He describes the roles of figures like the Governor General and Lieutenant Governor, parses symbols and awards associated with the Crown, and outlines the Queen’s interaction with various levels of government as well as with the Canadian public. Includes bibliography and an appendix containing lists of Sovereigns of Canada, Governor Generals of Canada, and Lieutenant Governors of Saskatchewan.
