Notes

William George “Billy” Bock arrived in Saskatchewan to homestead in 1902, later serving as a Member of Parliament for the Maple Creek riding 1927-1930. Bock authored two humorous memoirs – 1958’s “The Book of Humbug” and 1960’s “The Book of Skeletons” – as well as a recurring column in the “Eastend Enterprise.” This volume presents stories from Bock's previous publications, selected by John H. Archer and Robert Peterson (first President of the University of Regina and a Saskatchewan Senator, respectively). Congenial and humorous, Bock’s recollections and reflections range from his childhood in Ontario to his work for the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration. Laid in is a “Historically Speaking” newspaper column by Leith Knight concerning John Doane and his descendants.
