Elinore Pruitt Stewart (1876–1933) was an American homesteader and writer whose letters describe life in southwestern Wyoming in the early twentieth century. Born in Oklahoma, she was largely self-educated and worked in domestic service before relocating to Wyoming in 1909. There she established a homestead and later married rancher Clyde Stewart. Her correspondence, originally written to a friend and later published, recounts her experiences of ranch work, family life, and the surrounding community. Stewart continued to write while managing domestic and agricultural responsibilities until her death in 1933.
This volume is a collection of letters by Elinore Pruitt Stewart, including previously unpublished and uncollected material, presented with editorial commentary.
