Notes

Compiled to commemorate Manitoba’s Centennial, this edited collection contains essays by 14 archaeologists (many working in Manitoba universities and museums) that survey archaeological work and findings in the province. The chapters range from descriptions of archaeological sites to comparative analyses of rock art to explorations of buffalo runs, and represent multiple (pre/)historical periods in multiple regions. Altogether, the volume’s essays paint a picture of both (pre/)history in Manitoba and that (pre/)history’s study through archaeological excavations. Includes bibliography, index, and a 21.5 x 52 cm (8.5 x 20.5 in) fold-out chart comparing the Avonlea, Besant, and Pelican Lake periods through archaeological evidence.
