Notes

Intended to be the first half of a two-part history of Saskatoon, this volume appears as no.2 in a "Saskatoon Past, Present & Potential" series published by the Saskatoon Environmental Society. Based on a M.A. thesis by William P. Delainey (currently co-editor of "Saskapedia"), the book traces Saskatoon's growth from a temperance colony founded in 1882 into an urban centre in the early 1960s. The authors discuss issues such as city planning and zoning, factors influencing growth, transportation and services, civic politics, and commercial activity and industry. Although the book has academic roots, the text is supported by maps and photographs more often than footnotes.
