In 1990, SaskPower appointed an Electrical Energy Options Review Panel to gather feedback from Saskatchewan residents regarding the sources and cost of electricity in the province. The panel – comprised of a University of Saskatchewan dean, an environmentalist, an agricultural consultant, a union leader, and the Chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations – report their findings in this volume. Covering a variety of energy sources (ranging from coal to wind to nuclear), the report summarizes SaskPower’s current operations, presents public opinion regarding the future potential of each source, and outlines current technology for converting each source into electricity. Large appendices contain panel announcements and press releases, lists of hearing participants, and reprints of the “Energy Options Update” newsletter published in conjunction with the panel's work.
