Notes

Andrews traces the history of a number of long-established ranches in southern Alberta, examining their development from the late nineteenth century to the present. Drawing on archival records, diaries, and personal accounts, she profiles ranches including the McIntyre, Midway, Bedingfeld, E.P. and D Ranch, Buffalo Head, Loony Lane, Eden Valley, Walrond and the Walrond Grazing Co-operative, and the King Ranch. The volume explores the settlement of Alberta's ranching frontier, the influence of the Chinook region on cattle raising, and the continuity of ranching families and enterprises across successive generations. Illustrated throughout with maps, archival photographs, and contemporary colour photographs.
