Notes

This booklet celebrates the opening of the Prince Albert Traffic Bridge, which was conceptualized in 1958 and completed in 1960. Funded by all three levels of government, the bridge was heralded as a gateway to further transportation and economic development in northern Saskatchewan. The booklet features photos and descriptions of the construction process alongside brief commentary by the bridge’s engineer (M. B. Pierce) and Saskatchewan’s Minister of Highways and Transportation (C. G. Willis). It also includes congratulatory messages from government leaders: John G. Diefenbaker (Prime Minister of Canada, and eventual namesake of the bridge), Tommy C. Douglas (Premier of Saskatchewan), and Allan Barsky (Mayor of Prince Albert).
