Notes

This thick volume contains a local history of the town of Watrous as well as the smaller communities of Venn, Manitou Beach, Renown (now a ghost town), and Amazon. Together, these locales span Saskatchewan’s Rural Municipalities of Morris #312, Wood Creek #281, and Wreford #280. While the second half of the volume is composed of family histories contributed by area residents, the first half contains detailed topical chapters on aspects of local history and life. Following descriptions of the region’s geographical features, settlement, and pioneer challenges, each community (except Amazon) receives its own historical overview. Chapters on local churches, schools, businesses, agriculture, sports teams and organizations, and transportation appear as well. Includes index.
