Notes

Bill Barry (1942-2015) was a teacher, author, and historian who created a large database covering the history of Saskatchewan place names. In this reference volume, Barry provides information from his database for more than 4000 place names in the province. Each entry includes a land description and approximate geographic location, municipality number, indication of type (i.e. town, resort, rail siding, etc.), explanation of the name’s origin if known, and railway indicator if applicable. The volume’s entries include present as well as past place names (but no names of topographical features) and are cross-referenced where necessary. Includes a listing of Saskatchewan post offices.
