Notes

This volume contains a community history of the town of Borden and its surrounding area (in Saskatchewan’s Rural Municipality of Great Bend #405). The volume opens with a short historical overview of the town and municipality, including sections on the Borden Hospital (now a Health Centre) and the Borden Ferry (closed in 1937). The next – and, by far, largest – section contains family histories contributed by area residents and includes a short history of the Diefenbaker family (Prime Minister John Diefenbaker’s parents and relatives homesteaded near Borden). Topical chapters on the area’s churches, schools, community organizations, and memorable events (including the Borden Bridge’s construction) conclude the volume.
