Notes

Beginning in 1917, Imperial Oil Limited published “Imperial Oil Review,” a magazine intended to keep employees and stakeholders abreast of developments in the company. The Review also published articles discussing history, the environment, and social matters to promote Imperial Oil’s interest and involvement in the concerns and issues faced by residents of the region where it operated. This issue contains three articles about western Canada: “The Forts of the Mounties” by Grace Lane, a “Present on the Prairies” history of Imperial’s role in Canada’ North-West, and “The Saskatchewan River” by the Review’s assistant editor (and, starting in 1972, CBC radio personality) Arthur Black.
