Part I: Lacks the two double-page colour illustrations, (1) titled “Canada's Sacrifice” and (2) titled “Major-General Middleton, C. B.” The double-page black and white illustration, “The Attack on the Rebels at Fish Creek,” is detached from the staple binding. Staples oxidized, leaving some staining. Upper fore-edge corner creased. Light age-tanning. Minor dust-staining. Two-inch split along the fold.

Part II: Full-length separation along the fold, leaving the cover in two pieces; apparently never stapled. Top edges of the two signatures uncut; the top edge of the supplement neatly trimmed. Mild chipping to edges. Light age-tanning. Faint dust staining.

Notwithstanding the deficiencies noted above, the printed contents themselves are remarkably crisp and clean for a periodical of this date. The sheets exhibit little evidence of handling or general wear, and the material present has been exceptionally well preserved. While not fresh, the contents retain a pleasing degree of their original crispness and are in notably superior state to that which the exterior condition might otherwise suggest.
