Notes

In this volume, former Canadian Broadcasting Company correspondent James M. Minifie recounts stories of his family’s immigration from England to Canada in the early 1900s and their subsequent homesteading in southern Saskatchewan. He describes his childhood in Shropshire, the family’s journey overseas to reunite with their father (who arrived in 1909 to acquire land), and their early years establishing a homestead and farming in Saskatchewan. The final chapters recall Minifie’s service in the Canadian army during WWI and years at Regina College. With modesty and humor, Minifie recalls his family’s first fifteen years on the prairies.
