Notes

This plant guide was created to help amateur botanists, ranchers, and farmers identify the many plant species that grow on the Canadian prairies, especially native plants. Archibald Charles Budd—himself a farmer and homesteader—put this work together based on his deep interest in botany. He was passionate about understanding weeds, both their classification (taxonomy) and how they grow (physiology). Budd was also an avid reader of botanical books and had a sharp eye for observing plants in their natural environment.

As a tribute to Archie and his devoted work the original title Wild Plants of the Canadian Prairies was renamed to Budd's Flora.
