Notes

Bob Boyer (1948–2004) was a Métis artist and educator born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. After earning a degree in arts education from the University of Regina, he taught before joining the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College (now First Nations University of Canada), where he led the Department of Fine Arts for many years. His practice ranged across painting and installation.

Bob Boyer: His Life’s Work, prepared in conjunction with a 2008–2009 retrospective organized by the Mackenzie Art Gallery and circulated to other Canadian institutions, offers a survey of his career. In addition to Lee-Ann Martin’s curatorial framework, the volume includes essays by Ted Godwin, Carmen Robertson, and Alfred Young Man, and illustrates key works from across his practice.
