Notes

This large book (21.5 x 28 cm, 8.5 x 11 in) contains the proceedings from an “Avonlea in the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains” Plains Conference Symposium held as part of the 1984 Annual Meeting of the Plains Anthropological Society in Lincoln, Nebraska. The volume contains 26 academic papers presented by American and Canadian scholars, as well as transcripts of a panel discussion followed by questions and answers. With reference to site maps, material evidence, and prior scholarship, each paper discusses the Avonlea phase (a period of Northwestern Plains history characterized by use of a particular type of projectile point, spanning approximately 100-1100 CE). Each paper includes an abstract and references.
