Notes

This exhibition catalogue showcases the work of James Henderson (1871-1951), a Scottish painter who immigrated to Canada in the early 1900s. After working in prairie centers like Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon, Henderson settled at Fort Qu’Appelle, and many of his paintings depict the Qu’Appelle region’s landscapes and First Nations inhabitants. In addition to full-page illustrations of Henderson’s landscape paintings, the catalogue includes a brief biography of Henderson that focusses on his Saskatchewan art career. This volume was published as part of a 1969 exhibition of Henderson’s work at Saskatoon’s Mendel Art Gallery.
