Notes

After World War II, the Geographical Names Board of Canada began using the names of fallen Canadian soldiers to name previously unnamed geographic formations. This volume contains a biographical index of more than 4000 Manitoba soldiers whose service has been commemorated in geographical features. Organized alphabetically, each entry includes the individual’s name, military rank and position, date of death, final resting place, list of surviving family members, and location of geographical feature bearing the deceased’s name. Many entries also include brief remembrances, stories, or portraits.
