The book opens with a historical overview of the two municipalities and the locales of Lepine, Carpenter, and Wakaw Lake resort. Chapters on the Carlton Trail (an overland trail used by settlers and First Nations groups) and local businesses, churches, hospitals, schools, and sports teams and organizations also appear.
