Notes

The first in a projected series of Old West booklets originally issued by the Cheely-Raban Syndicate of Great Falls, Montana, this publication assembles frontier narratives originally printed in newspapers, with individual authorship left uncredited. The contents range across western exploration, frontier conflict, and notable figures, including accounts of Fort Benton, Hugh Glass, Kit Carson, Chief Joseph, the Pony Express, and battles such as the Fetterman Disaster and the Wagon Box Fight. Each story is accompanied by pen-and-ink illustrations attributed to Charles M. Russell.
