Notes

This volume contains an archaeological, anthropological, and historical introduction to Saskatchewan's Indigenous heritage. The first half of the book recounts First Nations life in the province stretching back 15,000 years, extrapolating hunting practices and migration patterns from archaeological evidence before addressing contact with settlers and traders. The volume then covers art, ritual and religion, and languages in Indigenous societies. The book's final section focusses on three tribes no longer present in Saskatchewan: the Blackfoot, Gros Ventres, and Sarsi. Images of artifacts, illustrations, maps, and photographs dominate the text.
