This volume reports and analyzes the archaeological findings of five digs overseen by John and Jean Hodges during the summers of 1965-1969 at Last Mountain House, a Hudson’s Bay Company trading post site (northwest of Regina, Saskatchewan). The volume begins with a geographic description of the site, a historical overview of Last Mountain House, and an explanation of research methodology and goals. The authors then discuss the buildings/features, artifacts, and animal remains found. The book concludes with three appendices: a list of site volunteers, a lengthy catalogue and description of artifacts, and a catalogue and description of animal remains (written by Jean Hourston-Wright). Technical in tone, the book provides insight into the living conditions and activities of Hudson’s Bay Company employees in the nineteenth century.
