Agnes Deans Cameron (1863–1912) was a Canadian teacher, journalist, and lecturer born in Victoria, British Columbia. She was among the first women to hold senior positions in the province’s public school system and later worked in journalism and public speaking. In 1908 she travelled from western Canada to the Arctic via the Mackenzie River, later publishing an account of the journey.

The New North is a first-hand narrative of a journey from British Columbia across western Canada and northward by river to the Arctic coast. The work records the stages of travel, including rail and river transport, and describes the landscapes, settlements, and Indigenous communities encountered along the route.
