Notes

History of the Canadian trainees known as “The Canadian Raleighites,” who underwent naval instruction at HMS Raleigh during the Second World War. Following an agreement between the Canadian and United Kingdom governments, Canadian recruits received initial training at the Royal Navy shore establishment before completing sea service and appearing before selection boards for possible officer training. The volume traces their wartime service in various theatres and includes personal profiles and recollections contributed by former members, documenting both their naval experiences and their postwar personal and professional lives, as well as later reunion activities in Canada and the United Kingdom.
