Notes

Settlers of This Community was first published in 1949 by the Mountain Lake Gopher Historians to mark the Minnesota Territorial Centennial and was revised for the Minnesota State Centennial in 1958. The cookbook was compiled from several years of interviews and recipe collecting by Chapter II of the Gopher Historian Society of Mountain Lake High School. Dedicated to the community’s early settlers, it contains recipes and customs associated particularly with the area’s Mennonite families, including recipes passed down through successive generations.

Notes adapted from the Dedication and Foreword.
