Kaposvar was founded in 1886 as one of the earliest Hungarian block settlements in Western Canada. The colony was established under the promotion of immigration agent Paul Oscar d'Esterhazy ("Count Esterhazy"), who helped bring Hungarian settlers from the United States and Europe to southeastern Saskatchewan

Rich in photographs this is an account of the history of the Kaposvar Hungarian colony situated near Esterhazy, Saskatchewan and surrounding district from its founding in 1886 through its centennial year in 1986.
