Three-volume report issued by the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples concerning the relocation of Inuit families between 1953 and 1955 from Inukjuak, northern Quebec, to Resolute Bay on Cornwallis Island and Craig Harbour on Ellesmere Island, together with the participation of Inuit from Pond Inlet, Baffin Island. The study examines the origins, administration, and consequences of the relocation program, including government policy, questions of Arctic sovereignty, living conditions in the High Arctic settlements, and the experiences and testimony of Inuit relocatees. The High Arctic Relocation, presents the Commission’s historical analysis, findings, and conclusions regarding the relocation scheme and governmental responsibility.
